These audiovisual aids are subdivided into five main sections; each of them is about a crucial point in the Italian cinema history, through interviews with the relevant generation of directors:
1 Children of economic miracle: between euphoria and resignation. Monicelli and Risi tell about euphoria and anxieties of the young who experienced the economic boom as well as about the Italian Comedy Style's peculiarities.
2 Frenzy and utopia: the young participating in 1968 Protest Movement. Bellocchio, Bertolucci and the Taviani Brothers tell about the Student Protest, the way they considered their age 30 as protest and utopia,  as demystification of the bourgeois self-confidence and creation of a project-world.
3 The years of anxiety: Moretti tells about the young who grew up in the years of terrorism as well as about their political disappointment, their betrayal of their fathers and their ego crisis.
4 The 1980s  and 1990s: the thirty-year-olds between flight and oblivion. Salvatores and Virzì describe the ruins of the Nineties after dismantlement of the Berlin Wall and end of Italy's First Republic, talking about the end of ideology and flight as the only possible horizon for the thirty-year-olds of those times.
Those are the years of postmodernism and showbusiness society, culminating in the 'Muccino affair'.
5  The latest generation: Marco Tullio Giordana talking about the current world scenario as well as the new generations of young who seem to be unwilling to resign themselves to cynicism. Finally, five thirty-year-old men belonging to the latest generation of directors (.......), gathered around a table at “Il Biondo Tevere” restaurant – where Visconti shot his film “Bellissima” and Pasolini stood Pino Pelosi a dinner for the last time before dying at the seaplane base in Ostia-, talk about such topics as new paths for Italian cinema of today after the years of postmodernism; recovery of both dialect and a suburban perspective on reality; relationship with History, fathers, memory...
